The History of Western Connecticut Federal Credit Union
We originally were Danbury Hospital's credit union. After adding more companies and their employees to the credit union, we were authorized by the U.S. government in 2000 to serve as a community credit union for the Housatonic Valley. We are the only Federal chartered community credit union in Western Connecticut. A community credit union permits anyone to become a member who lives, works, worships or attends school in these towns: Bethel, Brookfield, Bridgewater, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, New Milford, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman. You can also be a member if you are a direct relative of a member.
What is a Federal Credit Union?
We provide all the "banking services" you are accustomed to and more. Credit unions are owned by its members, not stockholders. Therefore, we deposit money together for the purpose of lending and helping each other. Members receive competitive dividends for their deposits. Each member's deposit accounts are insured to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency overseeing all credit unions.
How do I join the Credit Union?
